Avant-garde filmmaking, experimental photography, “piss” painting, image-making, patronizing, writing, publishing, multimedia art, commercials, commercial art, collaborative art, digital art: check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check, check. The legacy of Andy Warhol remains unmatched to this day, but probably the most surprising discovery that comes to mind while wandering around expansive Andy Warhol: 15 Minutes Eternal retrospective at Mori Art Museum, is ever present drone doom. Even overhyped Warhol's silkscreens, sandwiched between reoccurring symbols of death, reveal blotted black primer hidden underneath their colorful surface. In 2014 pop art doesn't look so pop anymore. Through May 6th.
