Fuyuko Matsui at Gallery Naruyama
Fuyuko Matsui and her gallerist, Akimitsu Naruyama, known for his appearance in cult classic Lost in Translation, is a match made in Blake's heaven. The snug gallery space—a reflection of its owner's character manifesting in beautiful flowers, creamy walls and classic furniture—is a perfect backdrop for exqiusite Matsui's works. Besides a pencil study there are only two works on display, “Night Blind,” her first ghost painting in 10 years, and “Eclipse,” but considering painstakingly long time traditional Japanese paintings take it's a lot. Needless to say all works were sold by the time the opening reception has started and it may as well be your last chance to see them. Through August 25th.
