Kishio Suga: Situated Latency
Situated Latency, a solo exhibition of Kishio Suga at Museum of Contemporary Art Tokyo, is both, a comprehensive overview of the artist's work and a perfect introduction to Mono-ha, an art movement Suga is closely associated with. You don't have to be versed in Mono-ha to realize you have entered a familiar yet mystifying world of things. Assembled from ordinary objects, common materials and industrial by-products the artworks are freeze frames of those prerational states when harmony and chaos are inseparable. It's the air in-between you're really looking at—arranged with zen precision, Kishio Suga's art is perfectly “empty” in its subtlety. Through March 22nd.
