Tomoki Imai: Semicircle Law

Tomoki Imai’s “Semicircle Law” at Taka Ishii Gallery Photography / Film is a series of landscapes shot within a 30 km “evacuation zone” of the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant. Questioning our selective perception of reality and tendency to erase disquieting memories Imai went on photographing beautiful nature surrounding the area, and radiation, unseen by the naked eye. His camera always pointing towards the nuclear power plant. “I felt that I would eventually forget this tragedy as I had many others. To forget something is to become accustomed to it. I did not want to become accustomed to the idea that a semicircle of emptiness was just a four hour drive away. And yet, I probably will forget.” Through February 16th.
