Yokohama Triennale 2014
As with most exhibitions, some people love it, some think it could be stronger, but the scope of Yokohama Triennale 2014 squarely puts it in a league of its own in Japan to make any just comparison. Christened by this year's artistic director, Yasumasa Morimura, Art Fahrenheit 451: Sailing into the sea of oblivion, the show aims to force visitors out of an overpowering information trap and help them to unearth the joy of discovery.
Ironically, the quantity of works requiring some foreknowledge or label reading in order to understand them is rather overwhelming even considering book—the exhibition consists of eleven chapters—structure of the show, but there is still plenty to meditate on, preferably over several visits. Through November 3rd.
